Scripture Litany

This is a litany I wrote for one youth service where the theme was based on the 139th Psalm. I placed it here for anyone that would like to print it off for the use at their church or simply to use with your family as a scripture to remember.

Scripture Litany
The Message (MSG)
Psalm 139

Boy Leader:
God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I'm an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I'm thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I'm never out of your sight. You know everything I'm going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you're there, then up ahead and you're there, too— your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful— I can't take it all in!

Boys: We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Girl Leader: Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you're there! If I go underground, you're there! If I flew on morning's wings to the far western horizon, You'd find me in a minute— you're already there waiting! Then I said to myself, "Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night I'm immersed in the light!" It's a fact: darkness isn't dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they're all the same to you.

Girls: We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Boy Leader: Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day.

All Teens: We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Girl Leader: Your thoughts—how rare, how beautiful! God, I'll never comprehend them! I couldn't even begin to count them— any more than I could count the sand of the sea. Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you! And please, God, do away with wickedness for good! And you murderers—out of here! — all the men and women who belittle you, God, infatuated with cheap god-imitations. See how I hate those who hate you, God, see how I loathe all this godless arrogance; I hate it with pure, unadulterated hatred. Your enemies are my enemies!

Parents/Grandparents: You are fearfully and wonderfully made

Boy Leader: Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I'm about; See for yourself whether I've done anything wrong— then guide me on the road to eternal life.

ALL: We are fearfully and wonderfully made

A Chat with the Author

Our discussion was interesting and I believe all the young ladies helped and encouraged each other.

These are three of my new "children". Anyone that knows me, knows that all young ladies I meet, become one of the children that God has placed in my heart (This is Caleb, Vera, and Darlene).

The young ladies were expressive regarding their concerns, their struggles and the things important to their hearts. They listened intently and were ready with raised hands to answer questions (Ramona's hand is raised and ready to share).

This was one of the young ladies I met at the party, however she like the other's have become dear to my heart. Whenever the Lord allows some young lady to come my way, I take it seriously that they are my responsiblity to pray for and the encourage.

James: How was the first, Meet the Author event?

Jewel: I first want to say that I pray I was an encouragement to all of the young ladies that came to share. The adults, myself and Micole Jenkins really facilitated them so that they could freely share what was on their hearts. I do know that I was greatly encouraged by them.

James: What information did you find out that was related to your book?

Jewel: Without sharing the details of our conversation, I found out that our young ladies are truly looking to live for Christ. They want to do this thing right and they want us to tell them how did we make it through our teen years. I found out that what touched each girl the most was the first chapter and from there they wanted to hear what I had to say. I also thought, our young people are in some fiery furnaces.

James: Would you do another event?

Jewel: I actually look forward to what God will do going forward. With this group, we will get together again to finish up the book. What I believe is most important is they feel they have an atmosphere where they can express what is on their hearts. So even if we don't stick completely to the book, but the things on their heart are addressed, then my job has been done.

James: This sounds like helping young ladies find their purpose is important to you.

Jewel: More than I can even express in words. I believe God allowed me to go through the things I did in my life because he knew on April 25th, there were going to be some young ladies waiting for me to share my life so that theirs could be a little better. Just as some day in the future each of these young ladies has an appointed time where God will need them to show up and make a difference. So yes, I am quite excited when I can help anyone on this path.

A Chat with the Author

I wear several hats. This is from our Youth Sunday. I am the Worship/
Chairperson for this service.

We had part one of this talk with the author on April 7th titled, Someone you Should Know (and it can be located on the http://Tri-Productions.blogspot.com). We continue this interview with some questions about the author's ministry with young women and teens.
James: What roles do you play within the church where you attend?

Jewel: I wear many hats. I am a Sunday school teacher. I orginally started with the teenage boys and girls, but eventually the class was separated into a boy's class and girl's class. I have been teaching the girl's class for over eighteen years now. I am also one of the youth leaders and have spoken at several of the youth retreats we present. I am the leader of a women's cell group, called "Women For Change". We deal with the hurts of women and how to give them to God and allow him to help us through them. We are women seeking change first in ourselves and then moving to changing the world around us. I also play a part in the worship services. I am a minister and I preach and teach wherever the Lord sends me. I've been to, Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin and in my home church in Illinois.

James: You have a busy schedule. How do you maintain all of these different task and are there other things you are doing?

Jewel: Yes, there are other things I am doing. I am a student at Mid-America Christian University. I will graduate come May 10th with my degree in Christian Ministries. I plan to attend Liberty University come August to obtain my Masters in Theology with a concentration in Pastoral Counseling. I also maintain and write daily to the post for the website and blogs. I also am currently proofing my next book, Broken China Makes a Beautiful Mosaic and hoping to have that ready for publication soon. I have also started writing another book, The New Covenant: Marriage God's Way. That one will be interesting, as I am writing it with you, my husband. I am also currently looking into starting a drama ministry at the church I attend. If it is the Lord's will, it will go forth. So, yes I have several things going on. I am able to maintain them all simply because I love what I am doing! I have the freedom to do what I love. However, no matter how many hats I wear, there is nothing more rewarding to me that being a mother of three wonderful girls. This is my first ministry. It would do me no good to have given myself for others, and neglected the precious ones right in my home.

Me with my two youngest daughters before the recording of the Warriorz of Praises CD.

This is my eldest child. I am a typical proud mother. I think God blessed me with the best child ever! However, that doesn't mean she isn't a teenager!
James: Thanks Jewel. We will finish this interview next week and have some updates from the April 25th Meet the Author party.
