Teaching Notes

That day David first committed to Asaph and his associates this psalm of thanks to the LORD : Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. - 1 Chronicles 16:7-9

Tell What he means to you. It is easy for me to tell you to be thankful, but is that what is in your heart? Do you remember when you did something wrong and your parent made you say you were sorry, did you really mean it or did you say it so that you would not get in trouble?

It's the same way with telling someone thank you. I can ask you like David did, to give thanks to God but is it in your heart? I admonish you to call on his name and when you do so tell others what he means to you. That is what it means to make him known among the nations. Sing his praises, tell of what wonderful things he has done for you.

I can tell you how great he has been in my life, but don't you want to have that personal relationship for yourself? Don't you want to be able to thank him for what he has done in your life? Don't you want to be able to have a thankful heart not because somebody told you, but because God has engrafted himself into your life?

You begin by making the first step of seeking him for yourself. That means if you want to know God is real, just ask him to show himself to you. Part of how he reveals himself is in his word. READ IT! As you read it ask him to help you understand what he is saying about himself.

And as you continue to seek him you will begin to know him for yourself. Then you can tell others about why they too should be thankful to God. As you prepare your hearts for Christmas, let us end November with a heart of thankfulness.

Prayer: Lord we are so thankful that you help us to understand our need for you in our lives. We are thankful that we can call on you and that you will help us. We are thankful Lord that we can tell others of your wonderful work in our lives. We will sing your praises and help others to do the same. Amen.

Can you hear from you this week, about how you tell others about your relationship with Christ.
