Teaching Notes

These are "treasures" we made at Williams Camp one year. Right now, they do not look like treasure, because they are not finished yet. That is the truth about us. We are treasures unto God even if we do not look it yet.

What are You Worth?

(The Message)

If anyone sins by breaking any of the commandments of God which must not be broken, but without being aware of it at the time, the moment he does realize his guilt he is held responsible. He is to bring to the priest a ram without any defect, assessed at the value of the Compensation-Offering.

Teaching Notes: In the book of Leviticus there are many commandments regarding sins and the requirements for the people regarding those sins. In this scripture it tells if someone broke one of the commandments of God without realizing it, when they became aware of the sin, they had to give an offering. That would be the time that sin became sin to them, when they realized it. He is to bring the priest a ram without any defects and the value will be determined for the compensation offering.

Question: Why was the value important?

Answer: In order to pay the compensation (price) a value had to be placed on the head of the animal. For example if the sin was valued at a certain price the animal was valued at the same price so that debt for the sin could be paid. This let's us know that there is a value on sin. Sin cost something. Do you think you can pay the price for sin? Come back tomorrow and let's study this more.

Prayer: Lord I do not believe I can pay for the price of my own sins, help me to understand that only you can pay that price. Help me to understand my value in you.
