What are You Worth?
John 3:16 (The Message)
16-18"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

Notes: This week we have talked about some of the many sacrifices that the people had to give. We also learned that the blood of these animals could not really remove the sin of man, but it would take blood to do it. That blood would be the son of God. God sent his son to the earth all because he loves and we can find our worth in him. All that was done during the times of animal sacrifice was to lead men to Jesus as the savior of the world.

Question: The scripture says that those that do not accept Jesus as savior are under a death sentence. Why?

Answer: This does not mean simply dying, this means the death of being separated from God and the life that he gives. When one does not accept Jesus, they do not receive the gift of eternal life. God loves each of us enough that he valued us worthy of the gift of salvation that his son paid for with his life. If you and I reject Jesus, we reject God. When we accept Jesus as the savior of God, we accept God and all that he has for us.

Prayer: Lord, help me to realize I have worth and value in you. Help me to accept your gift of salvation given by your son Jesus Christ. Help me to give you myself so that you can live in me. Amen.
